Big Brothers Big Sisters hosts several community events throughout the year. 


Thank you for your support this past year. Here is our list of 2008 fundraising events. We invite you to participate. Check back often for updates.


Pie In The Eye Basketball Benefit

Date:  Saturday, March 29, 2008

Where:  El Dorado High School Gym, 561 Canal Street, Placerville

Description:  Event features a Fire Fighter Challenge between the El Dorado County Fire Department and the El Dorado Hills Fire Department and a Law Enforcement Challenge between the Sheriff’s Department and the Probation Department.  Winners get a trophy and “bragging rights” for a year! 

Needs:

Major Sponsors:  Gold Sponsors $1,250; Silver Sponsors $750; Bronze Sponsors $500

Event Program Ads:  Ad sponsors, $100 for business-card size ad or $250 for a 3” x 4” ad

Raffle Items:  All kinds, for both kids and adults – please obtain ASAP to boost attendance

Attendance:  Get people there!   $5 adults; $2 kids


Chip in Fore Charity Golfathon

Date:  Friday, June 6, 2008

Where:  Empire Ranch, Folsom

Description:  Major Sacramento area golf-a-thon being held concurrently at five locations to benefit local charities that help kids.  Our Organization selects 10 golfers that can raise $1,500 each in pledges, either per-hole pledges, usually flat pledges; golfers must come in with at least the minimum pledges! 

Needs:

Golfers:  We need golfers capable of raising $1,500 or more in pledges

Pledge Assistance:  Golfers may need assistance raising pledge minimum. Donations are tax-deductible.


Autumn Auction

Date:  Saturday, September 13, 2008, 3:00 – 6:30 p.m.

Where:  Crystal Springs Gardens in Camino

Description:  Live auction features 25-35 “upscale” auction items, either single items or baskets of related items.  Guests pay $25 per ticket to attend this outdoor “garden party,” and are treated to a catered dinner.  There is a framed Thomas Kinkade print and a cord of firewood as the top door prizes for ticket holders (present or not), plus many other prizes.  A live auction is held in a beautiful country garden setting and the guests bid on auction items.  There is also a Silent Auction.

Needs:

Major Sponsors: Platinum Sponsor $2,500; Gold Sponsors $1,250; Silver Sponsors $750; Bronze Sponsors $500

Donated Auction items: Upscale auction items or items that can be “grouped” in an auction basket; we really need “experience packages,” including bed-n-breakfast stays, ski outings; airline tickets; day spa packages, hot air balloon trip, limo tours, or other unique vacation experiences.

Baskets for auction items:  Need all kinds of attractive baskets, especially large baskets.


Bowl for Kids’ Sake

Date: Friday, May 2, 2008, 5:30 - 8:00

Date: Saturday, October 18, 2008, 12:30 – 2:30

Where:  Lake Bowl in Folsom

Description:  4-member teams collect minimum pledges of $100 each.  In exchange, they bowl two free games, plus receive a free t-shirt and free pizza and drinks.  There is a $300 prize for top pledge getter and a $50 prize for each member of the top pledge team.  There is also a perpetual bowling team trophy for the top bowling score.

Needs:

Team Recruitment:  Recruit Team Captains to put together a 4-member team for the event.

Raffle Items:  Need raffle items and prizes of all sorts
