Welcome to Big Brothers Big Sisters of El Dorado County

In 1977, someone saw a need. Many of the children in our community had unusual challenges in their lives. Some lived in single parent homes, were growing up in poverty, or were coping with parental incarceration. They needed support and encouragement to succeed. Given the proven success the national Big Brothers Big Sisters program had achieved, the solution was obvious. And Big Brothers Big Sisters of El Dorado County was born.

Our vision: all children achieve success in life.

Our mission: provide children facing adversity with strong and enduring, professionally supported one-to-one relationships that change their lives for the better, forever.

Our results: National research has shown that positive relationships between Littles and their Bigs have a direct and measurable impact on children’s lives*. By participating in our programs, Little Brothers and Sisters are:

  • 46% less likely to begin using illegal drugs
  • 27% less likely to begin using alcohol
  • 52% less likely to skip school
  • more confident in their schoolwork performance
  • able to get along better with their families

Think of the possibilities. Together we can start something BIG.

Big Brothers Big Sisters is a 501 c (3) nonprofit organization. We are an affiliate of the Big Brothers Big Sisters of America and governed by a local volunteer Board of Directors.
